I’m reeling. I really am. I went into the theater with absolute faith that the Russo brothers would nail it, and by god they nailed it. I wept for the majority of the runtime.
I’m not going to spoil anything. Email me if you want to talk specifics. As far as plot stuff goes, my lips are sealed for at least two weeks. Everyone deserves a shot at enjoying the surprising thrill ride that is Endgame.
I am so moved by the raw emotion and the authenticity of Endgame. This was the perfect Avengers movie. I mean, no movie is perfect- there are a few bits and piece here and there that I think could be altered or improved, but those are so minor in the grand scheme of things that, even if I were doing a spoiler-ridden, deep-digging review, I would barely mention. It’s just that good.
I’m still processing everything that happened. There are scenes I’ve forgotten because everything was so overwhelming. I’m going to see it again. And again. And again.
In 2008, Robert Downey, Jr. made a silly superhero movie that, according to Jeff Bridges, barely had a script, and it blew the world away. It turned Iron Man from a D-lister to one of the most iconic characters in pop culture history. Follow that up with the rest of the Marvel Trinity- Thor and Captain America- and we have more than a series of movies. I have genuine love for these characters, and seeing the series progress has made watching Thor: The Dark World worth it. I mean seriously: There are some bad movies in this franchise, and yet it has displaced Star Wars as my favorite series.
Everyone who touched Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame should be proud of themselves. Every grip, every PA, every underpaid intern. They didn’t make a dumb action blockbuster. They made a goddamn masterpiece.
Go see Endgame as soon as you can.
