Books on Trump

Older Patron checks out a book on Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

Me: There’s just… no end to it. The more we dig up, the more we write, the more we anything, it just keeps escalating, which calls for more digging, more writing…

Older Patron: I’ve read probably 15 of these.

Me: I quit after, like, 2.

Older Patron: I was talking with a friend of mine in a coffee shop the other day about… just, everything, someone else, a younger person we didn’t know, jumped in on the conversation because they couldn’t take this anymore, either!

Me: Yeah, the Trumps are pretty universally reviled.

Older Patron: Well, don’t be so sure. I was talking with one person the other day who I was sure was anti-trump- they were Jewish! And a neighbor! And they started proselytizing and defending the whole Trump clan and… you really can’t tell sometimes. These last couple years have been enlightening. You really get to know what type of person you’re dealing with.

Me: Yeah

Older Patron: We’ll be- well. I’ll be dead before we see the end of it.

Me: Oh I will be too. My children’s children will be cleaning up the fallout.

Older Patron: You think so?

Me: Absolutely. There are so many deep-running issues that allowed Trump to become President, and every one of them needs to be addressed before we can call anything “fixed”.

Older Patron: Well this is a bummer

Me: Yeah I wanted to end this on a high note, but that’s not gonna happen.
