Me: …and this DVD is overdue, so you owe a quarter on that. That makes your fine a total of $5.24… so I would need at least that quarter before I can check out to you.

Patron: I don’t have that.

Patron: Ugggggh but I really want to check out these movies!

Me: Sorry.

Patron: Is there any way, ah… those could be… y’know…

Patron: Erased?

Me: No.

5 minutes later

Coworker: Matt! You are not gonna believe this!

Me: I don’t believe anything.

Coworker: That Patron you had a couple minutes ago? They’re on the phone with Other Coworker trying to get their fines forgiven!

Me: FORGIVE NOTHING. I’m all for waiving fines but this person is trying to game the system! They’re abusing our trust!

Me: YOU KNEW THE RULES WHEN YOU SIGNED UP, PATRON

Me: you KNEW
