Lawyer

Patron: You know, if I had to do it all over again, I think I would go back and be a librarian instead of a lawyer.

Me: Oh, I don’t know that I’d say that. I’ll bet you have better financial security than me.

Patron: Well, my firm changed all of us from salaried to contractors last year. The cutthroat behavior is… it’s just unacceptable. The lawyers are all awful to each other.

Me: Yikes

Patron: That, and with the shutdown… everything’s just in chaos right now.
