Patron: …and, being English, learning about the war of 1812 from the Canadian point of view, the French-Canadian point of view, the American point of view, and, let’s not forget, the Native point of view… that was a real eye-opener. I never read a newspaper the same way after that. It really differs based on who is telling the story. Just watch CNN and Fox talk about the same issue and you’ll see the same thing today.
Me: I dunno. Growing up, I heard a lot of “moderates” talk about watching Fox and then CNN and parse out the truth from the in-between, and I’m really not convinced that’s a valid way of deciphering current events. Just because Fox has the authority of being broadcast doesn’t earn them any real credibility. Is CNN perfect? Not at all. But they are at least broadcasting news. Fox is just a propaganda tool.
