Supervisor: Did you see the email about how patrons need to add their PIN numbers when they’re doing self-checkout?

Me: Yes

Supervisor: Ok

Patron: Hi! I put a book on hold and your system seems to be having trouble finding it.

Me: Can I see your library card?

Supervisor: It’s not working because they have to put in their PIN number.

Me: This isn’t related to self-checkout. Looks like we have only one copy of this title in the whole system, and it’s missing.

Supervisor: PIN number.

Patron: Damn.

Me: I’d suggest going to the librarian over there to submit an interlibrary loan request.

Supervisor: Matt tell them about the PIN number thing

Me: we’re talkinG ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE
