Patron: I need to pay my fine, but I don’t have cash. Do you guys take credit card?

Me: We do, actually! We just installed new credit card taking… stuff. We haven’t been able to take cards for what… 2 years? When the the chip cards take off?

Coworker: 3 years.

Me: God, has it been 3 years? I’ve been working here too long.

Patron: Don’t say that!

Me: eh?

Patron: Don’t say things like that! We need you.

Me: aww

Patron: You’re scaring me here. Making me think you’re gonna quit or something.
