Me: Y’know when I was younger, I used to have such a fear of needles.
Nurse: But why??
Me: Seriously? You don’t get fear-of-needles patients, like, all the time?
Nurse: Not really, no.
Me: Well, they’re sharp, pointy, they hurt, and I don’t like the idea of metal going inside my body.
Nurse, pinching my arm: So weird.
Nurse, giving me the flu shot: aaaand all done!
Me: Thanks.
I turn around the put my jacket back on, and there’s a toddler standing in the open doorway with their hands over their mouth. They saw the needle to into and out of my arm.
Me: Oh. It’s, uh… it’s just a tiny pinch.
Toddler turns around and runs away.
Me, to Nurse: So, you can look forward to that patient.
Nurse: Thanks.
