Isaias

Hey so, did anyone else notice the sky opening up the other day?

Philly sure did!

This was last Wednesday, and I’m pretty sure I’m still drying off. At least, my soul is.

The rain started sometime in the morning, but it stopped for a bit in the early afternoon. I stepped outside during this dry period for my socially-distanced-and-very-brief lunch and it turns out that was a mistake!

Image of the street and parking lot behind the library. It's wet. Really really wet.
i swear it wasn’t like this when i got here

From where I took this photo to the nearest (only) door was about 15 feet, but in order to get there I had to very literally wade through a mid-shin deep pool of rainwater that was in front of that door

(no picture because it was fucking WET and my hands were WET and my shoes were WET and I couldn’t get my phone to work)

So I retreated to my little office where I luckily had a dry shirt to change into and spent the rest of the day miserable.

Me, grumbling: god dammit this is such bullshit fuck

Coworker, shrieking: SOMEONE CALL BUILDINGS, WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Me: What’s the matter?

Coworker: It’s raining

Coworker: IN THE WOMEN’S ROOM

A light fixture with rainwater pouring out of it.
something seems off here but I can’t quite put my finger on it
Same light fixture, but with a giant recycling bin underneath to catch the water
I feel like… it’s not supposed to look like this.

Me: I don’t see this as a problem, really.

Me: All we need is a simple rebranding campaign!

Several Coworkers: what

Me: The library had special lights installed that show you the weather outside! Isn’t that just so thoughtful?

Coworker: So are you going to call the emergency maintenance people, or…?

Comments!
