The ever loving, lovely, and loved Jilly is currently working on a theatre production for the 2019 Philadelphia Fringe season. I’ve been watching them work and research and toil with all the blood, sweat, and tears you could ever ask for to make it go. I haven’t seen any of it yet, but seeing the love and labor that Jilly’s been putting into it has brought me a lot of joy. It’s called Siren Songs, and I can’t wait to see it.
In order to make art, though, there needs to be capital. Making theatre is expensive and there are a lot of artists and laborers who have earned compensation. Siren Songs is currently running a GoFundMe to raise funds for the costs of putting on the show, and they need the support. And now, a word from our Jilly.
Jilly Schwab is helping to direct a devised theatre piece on addiction and the opioid crisis, and they need your help to not only put on an amazing show, but to connect their audiences with resources to help address the stigma of addiction. Among the hundreds of Fringe shows coming up in September, Siren Songs aims to have a lasting impact. Any amount you can donate the project will go a long way.
