Me: Hey, Head of Department.

Head of Department: Matt! I hear this is your last week.

Me: You heard correctly.

Head of Department: Congratulations on the promotion, but… I’m sorry to lose you. Your… shall we say, “unique” brand of service really had a way of fitting into this department.

Me: I, uh…

Me: Thank you. That means a lot, even though I know you were trying really hard not to call me weird.

Head of Department: Those are your words, not mine.
